Guidelines for the safe burning of Altar candles

1. Candles should be stored horizontally on a flat surface
2. Candles should not be subjected to direct sunlight or extremes of temperature
3. Candles should be used within 2 years of purchase
4. Please ensure candles are firmly held in an upright position and the holder is placed on a stable surface
5. When relighting a candle, ensure the burning pool is clear of foreign materials as this can cause secondary burning.  Take care not to move the wick from its previous burning shape
6. If candles are burnt in confined spaces, there should be at least two feet vertical clearance between the flame and any surface or material
7. Extreme care must be taken at all times to ensure that candles are burnt correctly and in safe surroundings
8. NEVER LEAVE BURNING CANDLES UNSUPERVISED!
